The City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has retained its position as the third best university in Hong Kong in the newly released Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings 2026, while climbing from tenth place last year to seventh in Asia, continuing to rank among the top 1% of universities in Asia.
In addition, CityU has won two major awards for two consecutive years at the QS Asian University Rankings Awards Ceremony, making it one of the three universities in Asia to receive the most awards, reaffirming CityU's leading position in international higher education.
CityU has excelled in multiple evaluation indicators, including achieving full marks in the number of faculty with doctoral degrees, the proportion of international faculty, the proportion of international students, the outbound exchange student ratio, and the inbound exchange student ratio. Notably, the proportion of international faculty, the outbound exchange student ratio, and the inbound exchange student ratio ranked first in Asia.
Furthermore, CityU ranks highest in Hong Kong across eight evaluation indicators, including citations per paper and the proportion of international students. Six of these sub-indicators have ranked first in Hong Kong for five consecutive years: faculty-to-student ratio, the number of faculty with doctoral degrees, papers per faculty member, the proportion of international faculty, the outbound exchange student ratio, and the inbound exchange student ratio, demonstrating CityU’s leadership in academic research and innovation within Asia and globally.

Ranking 75th globally in the 2026 THE World University Rankings, a record high;
Moving up to 54th place in the 2025-2026 US News Best Global Universities ranking;
Breaking into the top 100 globally for the first time in the 2025 Shanghai Ranking's Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), ranking 99th globally and second in Hong Kong; becoming the second university in Hong Kong to enter the top 100 since the ranking's inception in 2003;
Ranking 63rd in the 2026 QS World University Rankings.
